Exclusive First Look At Audi R15 Plus At Sebring Test
by Eddie LePine
3/24/2010
Orlando, FL (March 24, 2010) - Had an opportunity to check on the Audi test at Sebring on Wednesday. Audi is working out the updated TDI R15, now called the TDI R15 Plus.
At the test, driver Marcel Fassler shook down and exercised the car between adjustments by the Ingolstadt-based crew. Audi returns to endurance racing this year with the R15 Plus at the 8 Heures du Castellet on April 11 at the Paul Ricard circuit.
The biggest difference in the new car is the nose as the updated aerodynamic package marks a big difference compared to its predecessor. The ungainly front wing has also been updated along with the troublesome cooling system, powertrain and even the lighting system. The team is also looking to regain the power lost due to the latest regulations that apply to turbocharged (lower boost) diesel engines.
The gauntlet will be dropped as Peugeot and Audi face off at the 24 Heures du Mans at the circuit La Sarthe.
